This Oribe sake cup, known as Guinomi, is created by adding 5% copper to transparent glaze containing feldspar, straw ashes and wood ashes as the base materials. The white surface has a traditional yet original and celebratory design, known as Hare ware, using iron brushwork called Tetsue. This half cylindrical shape, known as Hantsutsu, has straight sides and a flatter bottom and the shape is inspired by a pottery wheel's wavy motion.
